Original Maybelline Family Descendant, and The Beach Boys number one Fan, Chuck Williams passed peacefully November 19, from Liver failure. Rest in Peace dearest Cuz

Those who knew Chuck will always remember his sharp wit and hysterical sense of humor. Here is a sample of Chuck, BB1 at his best, with me on a radio show in Santa Barbara CA.

Today, one of my best friends, Chuck Williams, lovingly known to many as BB1
(Beach Boys’ #1 fan), passed away. He was an enormous, wonderful friend and
a great fan. He even had a Beach Boys shrine in his home. I will truly miss him and the indomitable, passionate spirit he brought to life.
Peace & Love,
ML

Sharrie Williams, Maybelline Story Presentation for PEO in Santa Barbara California

P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.

Sharrie Williams, with Ann Carneros, President of PEO Chapter ET.  Ann and her fellow club members organized this beautiful event for the 120 guests attending... many traveling from Newport Beach, Los Angeles, Simi Valley, Sacramento and Nevada.

I was especially delighted that so many of my cousins drove a long distance to see my Presentation..... including Cooper Aston, Jeff Welles and Karen and Max Bowser.

Seated at my table was, Santa Barbara News Post Society Columnist, Lorraine Wilson, Lisa Dabbs, Penelope Tinker, Kathy Dellarusso, Jean Smith and Christine Goodie, along with Ann Carneros.

Maybelline cousins gather in Santa Barbara to view the missing file.

Maybelline Cousins gather to view the  missing file of their Grandfather, Noel James Williams Co-Founder and Vice President of the Maybelline Company from 1915-1951.

The Coral Casino - View from the Williams Cabana.

Here I am on the left with my cousins Chuck, Jim and Nancy at the Coral Casino in Montecito sitting in the cabana they've occupied for 40 years.

I arrived in Santa Barbara after doing the Dare to Dream radio show with host Deborah Dachinger in Burbank to meet with my cousins and comb through their grandfathers lost file.  Emotions ran high as part of the Williams clan gathered for the momentous occasion.  The file is tucked safe within Cousin Chucks famous Beach Boy room and tomorrow he will guide us through the bevy of paperwork compiled over 80 years ago during the Great Depression.

More of the Noel James Williams family left to right.  Ann Louise Williams-Corbet-Carneros, Julee Williams-Huber, Christine Williams-Huber-Goodie, Sharrie Williams, Nancy Williams-Fesler.

Cousin Chuck Williams, aka BB1, will do the honors tomorrow and reveal the never before seen information in the missing file to the rest of the family.  Stay tuned for some fun fun fun details from the 1930's.  You will be shocked at the cost of things then and now.  Hold on to your hat!!!

Also don't forget to pick up a signed copy of The Maybelline Story and the Spirited Family Dynasty Behind it from this site and please leave a comment below. Thanks for following the Maybelline Blog.

Maybelline founder Tom Lyle Williams believed in a strong work ethic before having fun.

Tom Lyle Williams with Sallee Allen, Emery Shaver, his niece Annette Louise Williams (Corbett) (his brother Noel and Frances Williams second child) and Arnold Anderson in front of the Villa Valentino in the Hollywood Hills, 1945.

Annette Louise Williams, Tom Lyle's brother Noel's, second daughter worked for the Maybelline Company as a secretary for many years - one of the few cousins who ever worked for the company for any length of time.

As a young girl Annette learned the value of having a strong work ethic  from her uncle Tom Lyle and her father Noel, the two brothers who built the Maybelline Company from the ground up. But when she and her cousin Salle Allen, visited her uncle Tom Lyle at the Villa Valentino in the Hollywood Hills Annette also learned the value of playing hard as well.

Dinners at The Brown Derby, a boat trip to Catalina Island and tickets to Grauman's Chinese Theater were special treats for visiting relatives from Chicago and though Annette may have worked hard at the Maybelline Company- in California she learned to kick up her heals and have the time of her life.

Working hard was a common thread that ran through Tom Lyle's life and he passed that value on, to all his nieces and nephews.  He believed that when there's a job to be done, fun must be put on hold until it's finished, but when the work is done, there's no limit to the fun that can be had.

No wonder once the Maybelline Co. sold, Annette, with her husband and daughter,  moved to Montecito, Santa Barbara, California, and never looked back.  Like Tom Lyle, she couldn't resist the sunshine, beautiful beaches and laid back lifestyle that came with living on the Gold Coast.
