Maybelline founder Tom Lyle Williams

BEFORE MAYBELLINE NEW YORK THERE WAS MAYBELLINE.

Christy Turlington, Maybelline's face of the 90's.
In 1991 Maybelline adopted its current advertising slogan, "Maybe She's Born With It. Maybe It's Maybelline" tagline. The company was acquired by L'Oréal in 1996.

Christy Turlington first exploded onto the scene in the early 1990's as an internationally recognized model gracing the covers of top magazines and runways around the world and as the face for Maybelline.

Maybelline!

More answer's to Linda @youpleasureme44's guestion, (how has Maybelline changed over the last 30 years?) tomorrow as we move into the year 2000.

LYNDA CARTER, MAYBELLINE'S FACE OF THE 1980s.

To answer Linda @youpleasureme44's question:  How has Maybelline changed over the last 30 years? I dug through these old commercials to present a first hand view of fashion in the 1980's along with Maybelline's new product line.
When my great uncle Tom Lyle Williams owned and operated the Maybelline Company from 1915 through 1967, Maybelline was strictly for the Eyes, but by the 1980's, Maybelline products included lipstick, face makeup moisturizing cream, lip Gloss and blush.  Nail Polish was still a way's off, but would eventually be included in Maybelline New York's line.
So Linda, remember that first time you walked into the drugstore to purchase your first mascara at 14 and twriled the display center so fast the product's flew all over the floor?  There were so many more choices in 1984, than your mother had when she was a girl... but the one thing you knew...was that Maybelline represented quality for a sensible price... just like your mother and her mother counted on decades before!!! Please enjoy a walk down memory lane and let me know what memories come up for you!!!

GUEST BLOGGER LOVELY EMILY ROSE LOVES Volum' Epresss MAYBELLINE Mascara..

Maybelline Volum’ Express Mascara Review: by Professional makeup artist, Photographer and Beauty Blogger...

                                             Lovely Emily Rose
@LovelyEmilyR...Beauty blogger for babes on a budget!

I have truly never found a mascara that I adore this much. No clumping or sticking or flaking and my lashes look AMAZING. Here’s a few shots of it in action.

Mascara on both

Mascara only on the left
Unflattering, but it does a good job of showing how drastic the difference between the lashes with Falsies and the lashes without any mascara.
OVERALL RATING: 9.9/10
While this coats my lashes beautifully, it doesn’t make them super super thick, but it does a great job of lengthening. I do love this mascara, but the lack of “false lash” volume leaves something to be desired.  Of course, this might not be possible, so I’m looking forward to trying actual false lashes. I want to give it a 10 because it’s a fantastic mascara for the price (about $7), but I see a tiny bit of room for improvement. That being said, this is probably as close to perfect as you’ll
 get for this price.

Side note from Sharrie Williams;,
did you know that after nearly 100 years, Maybelline....
now Maybelline New York..... is still the most popular
mascara on the planet and yes it's because it's still the best quality and the most sensibly priced.

Maybelline was the first mascara sold in the United States in 1915.

The first mascara to use a Black Model to represent Ultra Lash in 1964.

The first to advertise Natural Hair False Eye Lashes in 1967.

The first to create the all time...and still most popular mascara in the world...
                                              GREAT LASH MASCARA, in 1971.

Thank you so much Lovely Emily Rose for being my guest blogger today and I hope you will order my book, The Maybelline Story and the Spirited Family Dynasty Behind It and write a review on the Maybelline Book Blog...  Sharrie Williams (Author)

GUEST BLOGGER, Veronica Noade for Maybelline Book: Vintage Beauty Week

My name is Veronica Noade, I'm a Canadian recording artist, model, and actress based out of Winnipeg Manitoba. Over the past few years I have been working hard to establish myself in both the Canadian music and fashion industries. Throughout my journey I have found that my "image" has been the most influential factor to impact my career.

Anyone who works with photographers and other media outlets on a regular basis will surely agree; good photos are a necessity. Beautiful shots and poised interviews can mean all the difference in securing meetings and jobs.

However, as an artist in the industry, I have found that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. It is important to remember that beauty can mean many different things. As a society and as individuals we are constantly evolving to redefine what beauty is and what it means in our every day lives.

It can sometimes be difficult to not feel pressured to adapt oneself to fit the norm. Rather than changing to be the person the public wants to see, I try to accentuate my natural features so people want to see who I really am.

Makeup is not about covering up your face; rather, it's a tool to enhance natural beauty and confidence, and I remind myself that every morning.

My most recent photo shoot (with the blond hair) was done primarily with Maybelline products. We (the photographer and make up artists) chose to use the cream based makeup because it gives an airbrushed and moisturized finish.

You can find me, my photos, and my music at www.veronicanoade.com and Wendy Shepherd's sites  http://www.officiallypluggedin.com/music/veronica-noade.php  and http://www.studiomatrix.com/

Thanks,Veronica Noade

SIDE NOTE FROM SHARRIE WILLIAMS: Beautiful models have been using Maybelline for 97 years and still find the slogan, "Quality yet Sensibly Priced," to be true.  Check back tomorrow for another beautiful guest blogger on the Maybelline Book Blog.

ANDERSON COOPER - GLORIA VANDERBILT

Seriously, one of my all time favorite books was Little Gloria Happy at Last.  I read it in 1983 and identified so deeply with Gloria Vanderbilt's childhood, that it spurred me on to write The Maybelline Story.  It took me over 20 years to finish my book and have it published and what amazed me was that it came out Sept 27th, 2010, followed by The World of Gloria Vanderbilt, published Nov 1st, 2010. Here are the three books sold on amazon.
